12 Week Fundamentals · Beginner Pathway

Cut your first paying clients with confidence — in just 12 weeks.

A hands-on course built specifically for people new to barbering — designed to take you from your very first haircut to standing behind a chair as a working barber. By the end of 12 weeks, you'll have the technical skill, the confidence, and the foundation to walk into any shop and earn your spot.

Who It's For

Built for people new to barbering.

This course is built for absolute beginners — people looking to get into barbering for the first time. No experience needed, no kit required, no haircuts under your belt. If barbering is something you've been thinking about pursuing, this is the place to start.

For Beginners

No experience, no kit, no haircuts under your belt — just the desire to learn properly. Each cohort is small and intentionally levelled, so everyone learns at the same pace and no one gets left behind.

You'll start from how to hold the scissors and finish ready to cut your first paying clients on your own chair.

Already Cutting?

If you've been cutting for a while and want to sharpen your work, the 12 Week Fundamentals isn't the right fit — our 2-Day Professional Development Course is built for working barbers and hairdressers ready to level up.

What You'll Walk Away With

The fundamentals, the confidence, and the foundation employers look for.

Twelve weeks of hands-on tuition, building from the very first cut to a complete, repeatable approach you can take into any shop.

Where Our Graduates End Up

The course works because the results are real.

Most barbering courses end with a certificate and a question mark. Ours ends with a chair, a clientele, and — for many of our graduates — a job on our team.

Two cohorts. Ten graduates. Eight now working at Space Male Image — across both Hessle and Cottingham. The rest have placed in the industry or are actively pursuing positions.

Student Stories

From their first cut to a chair of their own.

Each of these graduates walked into the course with little or no experience. Twelve weeks later, they were behind their own chairs. Today, four of them work at Space Male Image.

This 12-week course taught me the fundamentals and more. It was tailored, supportive, and helped me get to a point where I could cut hair with confidence — a point that seemed unattainable before I started. I'm now nearly fully booked off the back of this.

The 12 weeks gave me a foundation to build a clientele and a career. The educators clearly want the best for their students — alongside the cutting, I was taught business skills and life skills. I couldn't recommend it enough.

The Fundamentals course helped me improve week by week throughout the 12 weeks. It developed my skills within the barbering industry, sharpened my attention to detail, and most importantly improved my use of all the equipment.

The Fundamentals course really taught me from scratch how to cut hair. It built my confidence with the equipment and built me up with constructive feedback. Even with multiple people on the course, the educators made sure to give me extra time. It's benefited me a ton.

"Coming into it with no prior experience, I've come away from these 12 weeks with far more knowledge and confidence than I ever expected. Each week challenged me to push my limits. This experience has inspired me to pursue barbering as a full-time career."
Adin Plavovic
2026 Graduate
"The 12-week barber course gave me hands-on experience and a strong understanding of barbering techniques. It helped me build confidence, improve my attention to detail, and develop good customer service skills. I'd recommend this course to anyone interested in barbering as a career."

Frequently Asked

Everything you might want to know.

If your question isn't answered here, drop us a message on the contact page or on Instagram and we'll come back to you within a couple of days.

Do I need any experience to join?

No. This course is built specifically for people new to barbering — no experience, no kit, no previous haircuts required.

I've been cutting for a while — is this for me?

Honestly, no. The 12 Week Fundamentals is reserved for true beginners so the cohort moves at one pace. If you're already cutting and want to level up, our 2-Day Professional Development Course is the right fit.

Will I cut real people during the course?

Yes — from week 6 onwards, you'll start working on live models. We do our best to help arrange models for the group, but we also encourage students to start building a small clientele themselves through social media during the early weeks. We'll work on this together.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. A 20% non-refundable deposit secures your place. The balance can be paid in full or split into instalments via GoCardless.

What's your cancellation policy?

At least two months' notice is required to cancel. Deposits are non-refundable, but where possible we'll do our best to transfer your place to a future cohort.

Do I get a certificate at the end?

Yes. You'll receive a certificate confirming completion of our 12 Week Fundamentals course. This is our own training certificate — it isn't a governing-body qualification.

What if I miss a Sunday?

We'll do our best to recap the content quickly when you return, but we can't promise a full make-up of a missed day's education. Attendance matters — please come prepared to be there every Sunday.

Is parking available?

Yes — there's a free, open car park right next to the Co-op in Hessle, just a short walk from the shop.

The next cohort starts 6 September 2026.

Five seats. Two tutors. Twelve weeks to build the foundation.
